Option 1: Melbourne’s downtown (CBD)
If you’re travelling from overseas, we recommend staying in Melbourne’s downtown (CBD) to make the most of the city’s attractions and amenities. To get to the wedding: You can either drive (75 min) or take the train to Lilydale (1hr) and then hop in an Uber or Taxi (15 min)— it’s easy and convenient.
Popular areas to stay in Melbourne’s downtown include the Central Business District (CBD) (full of restaurants, shops, theatres, trams, and easy access to public transport); Southbank or Docklands (very popular for its proximity to the Yarra River, art precincts, galleries, riverside dining); Fitzroy / Carlton (trendy, creative vibe, cafés, street art, cool bars. Good for guests who want to explore more “local” Melbourne); or St Kilda (beachside and sunsets).
Option 2: Healseville
Consider staying in Healesville, a picturesque town celebrated for its vibrant arts scene, boutique shopping, inviting alfresco cafés, and popular local pubs. It’s also well-known for Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary, a popular tourist attraction. Only a 10 min drive to the wedding venue.
Option 3: Lilydale
For a convenient base, stay in Lilydale, only 15 min drive from the venue and with a direct train line back to Melbourne’s CBD for easy exploring.
Option 4: Yarra Glen
There are a few places to stay in Yarra Glen itself. For a touch of luxury close to the venue, Balgownie Estate Winery and Hotel is just a 4-minute drive away and perfectly captures the charm of the Yarra Ranges wine country. We recommend looking at airbnb for more options.
